LAILA! Launches a New Musical Era with Empowering Summer Anthem “Miss Mango”
One of contemporary R&B’s fastest-rising young stars is officially ushering in a new chapter.
Brooklyn singer, songwriter, producer, and creative visionary LAILA! has returned with “Miss Mango,” an infectious new single accompanied by a visually stunning music video, available now via Three Times Louder. The release marks her first new music of 2026 and signals the beginning of what promises to be an exciting new creative era.
Fresh off a successful nationwide run supporting Kali Uchis on the For the Girls Tour, LAILA! wastes no time carrying that momentum into the summer. Once again proving that she is much more than a performer, she wrote and produced “Miss Mango” herself, continuing the independent creative approach that earned widespread praise for her acclaimed debut album, Gap Year!.
Built around warm melodies, carefree summer vibes, and an empowering message, “Miss Mango” explores the journey of rediscovering self-worth after losing yourself in the pursuit of someone else’s approval.
“‘Miss Mango’ tells the tale of a girl who loses herself for love,” LAILA! explained. “She centers her life around a guy who couldn’t care less about her, constantly seeking his attention and validation. The message goes out to all the Miss Mangoes out there. Forget that guy. You’re so much more beautiful, colorful and rich inside than you realize.”
The accompanying visual expands that message with colorful cinematic imagery filmed on the island of St. Thomas, a location that has become a creative sanctuary for the artist. LAILA! also stepped behind the camera as creative director, working alongside director Moldyroom to create a vibrant visual experience that mirrors the song’s warmth, confidence, and island-inspired aesthetic.
Before its official release, “Miss Mango” received an early spotlight through Instagram’s original Anyway campaign, where the track was previewed as part of Meta’s latest creator initiative—further building anticipation among fans eager for new music.
The new single follows an impressive breakout period for LAILA!, whose self-written and self-produced debut album Gap Year! earned “Best of 2024” recognition from major publications including Pitchfork, Billboard, Complex, Vogue, and VIBE. Her rapid ascent has continued with standout performances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s #LateShowMeMusic, COLORSxSTUDIOS, and the BET Awards Red Carpet Live! pre-show.
Industry recognition has quickly followed. LAILA! has been featured in Rolling Stone’s prestigious Future of Music issue, earned a place on Billboard’s annual 21 Under 21 list, and recently added a 2026 Clio Music Award for Gap Year! to her growing list of accomplishments.
The PUB Report Take
In an era where authenticity often separates artists from influencers, LAILA! continues to distinguish herself by wearing nearly every creative hat—from songwriting and production to visual direction. “Miss Mango” isn’t simply another summer release; it’s a confident statement from an artist who is defining her own sound and vision on her own terms.
With undeniable talent, creative independence, and growing industry recognition, LAILA! is proving that her breakout year was only the beginning. If “Miss Mango” is any indication, her next musical era could be even bigger than the last.
