The Mahdi Theatre Company returns to King Drive with its spectacular rendition of THE WIZ-Chicago Style. THE WIZ-Chicago Style will feature the “crème of the crop” sensations such as Chanelle Patrick (Dorothy) who has danced internationally and performed in many community driven theatrical productions. Un’eqka McNeal, Scarecrow recording artist who have graced the stage with leading artist today, such as R. Kelly, Kindred- The family of Soul, and many others. She is a talent that has to be reckoned with! Jerry Thurman (Cowardly Lion) is a professional Chicago Style stepper instructor. A natural born performer, Jerry has starred in numerous productions across the country including MTC’s BRONZEVILLE, a musical celebrating the renaissance era that transpired in the 1930’s in Chicago. He portrayed the late Honorable Marcus Garvey. Demond Styles (Tinman) is currently recording his sophomore album. Demond is a talented actor with a gifted voice of song. He sparks the stage with his charismatic presence. He recently depicted the life of great singer Nat King Cole, in the musically acclaimed production, BRONZEVILLE.
Additionally, this production will incorporate the many favorite themes and anticipated guests of Chicago such as the South Shore Drill, Jesse White Tumblers, Stick and Move International Dance Troupe, and many more.
