Dear Darling Fashionista’s,
I know at some point we’ve all been influced by the likes of Brandy, Cleoparta, “Justice” from Poetic Justice or some other fab mama, to rock braids or plaits. For sure I have, back in my Moesha days, I wanted to rock those freshly parted and neatly done braids just the way Brandy did. To the point where I begged my mother to find someone who could braid my hair.
Well guess what! They have re-appeared on the scene with some of Hollywood’s finest, rocking them again. Summer is officially here and with the warmer temps and sunny skies, braids are a great alternative to let your hair rest and breath during these humid months. The real question is…Are we really feeling this style as a fan favorite, or as a comeback?
Braids have been around for decades, whether making a political statement, fashion statement, or just for plain comfort. Twisted around, straight back, or wrapped around the crown, this ever-changing hairstyle is here to stay. Celebs have added a modern twist to his old-school style, by sweeping hair to one side and doing one long braid, or braiding the hair from the front of the hairline to the nap of the neck. Also try a braid from the hairline to the middle of the head and add a hair accessory, for a fresh, youthful twist.
