Common Performed at the “Move America Forward” Rally in Chicago

CHICAGO—Saturday’s “Move America Forward”rally at Midway Plaisance, a park near the University of Chicago was a free event that not only featured President Barack Obama. Hip-Hop artist, Grammy-winner, and Chicago native, Common, gave a unforgettable performance.

Common showed his support for the Democrats of the state of Illinois by performing at the rally before President Obama spoke. Warming the stage and energizing the crowd Common performed several of his chart topping singles.

Fans swayed side-to-side and sang along to hit song entitled, “Go” from the “Be” album. Common prepared to turn the stage over to President Obama but before doing so, he gave one last message that spoke straight to the hearts of an estimated 35,000 rally supporters. He delivered an original poem and encouraged attendees, “to go vote because we support Barack Obama. We want better health care. We want better education. We want our children to feel love,” Common said.

The “Move America Forward” rally brought President Obama back to the Windy City to support Democratic candidates in Illinois. Greeted by a cheering crowd, Obama told attendees “Chicago . . . I need you to keep on believing.  I need you to knock on some doors. . .I need you to get out and vote in this election”.

The rally left supporters fired up and eager to get friends and family out to the polls on November 2nd.
