Yes I know the weather has drastically changed to cooler temps, but that doesn’t mean you can’t throw on a cute pair of cut offs. Pair cut offs with opaque tights, and knee boots, to keep warm on colder days.
Want the perfect pair of cut off shorts? Drooling over the must have celeb jeans, but can’t bite the bullet of the expensive price tag? Try these easy DIY Do-It-Yourself steps below to get the perfect pair of cut off shorts, that you can throw on next summer, or this fall before the weather is to cold to even walk out the door! Yikes!
1. Start out with a pair of old jeans, or stop by your local thrift store and cop a pair for little or nothing.
2. Cut the jeans to the length you want them, I suggest cutting a little longer in case they shrink in the dryer, or if you make a mistake. The easiest way is, make a slit and then rip across, the line will automatically come out straight, and it’s much easier then cutting the jeans with scissors all the way across. If you want them shorter you can always cut them again or cuff the bottom. If you want to add rips to the jeans this would be the perfect time, take a razor blade and gently razor across the jeans. Another trick is sandpaper, take a piece of sandpaper and rub on the jeans, to give a distressed look, and then proceed to step 3.
3. Wet shorts on both sides and lay them flat on the ground.(maybe on your balcony or infront of your house on the porch). Grab a spray bottle and spray with bleach on both sides. Quick Tip: the more bleach you use the lighter the jeans will be, so be gentle with the bleach, because you still want them to have the look of denim shorts. If you aren’t going for a die-dyed or acid wash look, you can skip this step.
Wait about 15-20 mins, PLEASE do not wait longer then 20 mins or the bleach will eat through the jeans. Place in the washer alone, wash as you normally would, and then place jeans in the dryer.
4. The finish Product! If your in the warmer states like Miami, wink! Pair with a blousy top, and a pair of cute sandals or combat boots for a edgy look. For my Up North fashionista, pair your new cut offs with knee boots, a pattern tight, and a chic cardigan.
