Lloyd-R&B’s New Leading Man

By Krystle Coleman

I am staring at a black wall, no substance, no distinction, no flava and in the midst of my concentration, a bright vibrant red line divides down the middle and unleashes new soul sensation Lloyd; the newest member of Murder Inc.

Young, gifted and everything the opposite of ordinary; Lloyd is more than your average friendly R&B male singer, he’s the opening to a new sound of R&B salvation! New comer Lloyd separates the bland portion of Hip-hop from an unparalleled artist like himself, the kind of artist that lives for new ideas, new sound, with music pumped through their veins and heartfelt lyrics breathed through air.

With bright ideas and musical favorites such as R.Kelly and Marvin Gaye, Lloyd gives you a preview of what his debut album “Southside” has in store with tracks like “Cadillac Love,” “Sweet Dreams,” and “Hey Girl” which tickled my own spin during an exciting interview/concert with Lloyd! All are well-penned romantic tunes…”I have my own style, I want nigga’s to respect my music,” Lloyd demands in a relaxed tone.

The release of his debut single “Southside” featuring Ashanti, Lloyd has proven that he’s more than capable of holding his weight! He’s creating his own mark with hip-hop leaders such as Irv Gotti, Ja Rule, Scar face and many more, but most of all bringing new, talented producers and artists to the industry! “I’m bringing some new faces to the scene, I wanted to work with some of my own people” Lloyd states.

There’s no doubt that this album will leave any portion of life unfulfilled; “Southside” will compel and infuse passion, truth, experience and most of all imbue ghetto love. Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen (The Inc.’s) newest member Lloyd is definitely that red line of distinction and unshakable talent that separate the leaders from the followers. Lloyd states that, “R&B is taking over; you have to be authentic and different.” With determination expressed, this tough Lloyd certainly has my stamp of approval along with everyone else!

Betty Wright always says “No Pain, No Gain” but as for as his album and personal life, Lloyd states something far more fierce “No Struggles, No Progress.” The team is stronger than ever!”  PUB

Lloyd continues to soar with murderous exposure as “Hey Young Girl” had video and radio airplay. As Ja Rule’s R.U.L.E, which recently dropped, Lloyd’s smooth vocals can be heard on the mixtape favorite rotator “Caught Up.” No word on a tour but you can bet that a tour with the whole INC (formerly Murder INC) roster of Ja Rule, Ashanti, Charli Baltimore, Cadillac Tah and Black Child will be in a city near you in early 2005.
